I’m Moving to Barbados.
That was a lie. But I wish I were moving to Barbados.
This may be contradictory to the “my heart belongs to New England!” rant I published just last week.
Although my heart DOES belong to this place, the forecast of yet another storm dumping more of the white stuff on us has triggered an intense craving for a warm-weather getaway. Namely, Barbados.
Yes, technically I have been… although only to the airport. Does that count?
While researching Rihanna’s hometown, I came across my dream home. Warning: graphic photos may cause salivation.
Ian Morrison, a local architect, drew inspiration from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings when he designed this 3,500-square-foot home. Built in 1975, the home sits on a hill overlooking the Atlantic.
The rustic wood floors and ceilings of the living room stopped me in my tracks.
Can you imagine sipping Pinot with friends in this outdoor dining space? The distant waves would be the ultimate soundtrack to a dinner party.
Sign. Me. Up.
The antique fixtures and exposed beams are completely unexpected and add dimension to the curved whitewashed walls. Even the sink is ornate.
I love the minimalist, romantic effect of the ceiling-to-floor, breezy white curtains. This would be the most perfect sanctuary at the end of a day on the ocean. And the quirky built-ins? So perfect for one’s collection of the classics… (Vogue, Marie Claire, Mademoiselle…) I kid. But, really.
A claw-foot bathtub in a gazebo overlooking the ocean? I thought this only happened in the afterlife.
It would be difficult to convince to me to leave. Ever.
Hats off to YOU, Ian Morrison, for giving me a reason to dream of la dolce vita during the dead of a New England winter.
See Habitats Designs for more about Ian Morrison and his incredible designs.

Take me there. NOW.

I would jet to Logan in a SECOND to fly there
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! xo
